About the “Nishio Yatsuhashi Bettei(detached house)”. The Nishio Yatsuhashi Bettei, located to the east of the Honke Nishio Yatsuhashi head office, is a business leader who was appointed to important positions such as 東洋レーヨン in 1919 (Taisho 8) about 100 years ago. It was built as the residence of Kiichiro Kawahara, who was also an academic person who was instrumental in establishing Kyoto Hosei School (predecessor of Ritsumeikan University). The Honke Nishio Yatsuhashi purchased what was later owned by Toshiba Sangyo and was mainly used as a recreational area exclusively for executives.
It was purchased by the head family Nishio Yatsuhashi, and in 2013 it was completely renovated and restored from the underfloor foundation, and it was opened to the public as “Dining/Sweet Restaurant Nishio Yatsuhashi no Sato”.
